You know the drill: you want to stay in New York City (L.A, the beach, etc.) but the hotels are SO expensive. The affordable ones are so bland that you might as well be staying in a hospital room. What you want is a unique, stylish room close to all the must-see places. No, make that a stylish apartment where you have space just to relax and a fully stocked kitchen where you can cook a meal or two. Oh, and make that cute apartment reasonably priced. Is that too much to ask? Airbnb says no. Don’t believe me? Take a look!
How about a Redondo Beach, California cottage for $124 a night!
Feeling a bit more adventuresome? You could stay in in a loft in Vancouver, British Columbia for $130 a night.
And if money is not a concern, you can rent this entire home in Costa Rica for $850 a night.
Here’s how it works:
You can even list your own home for rent. Not that suburban Kansas City is on anyone’s must-see list but …
Fall dinners are cozy. We linger around the kitchen table over bowls brimming with stew with crusty loaves of bread and apple crisp. The decorating on my kitchen table also says “fall” but I put together the look for little cost. Check out my fabulous fall finds.
Here’s the breakdown on my bargains.
Placemats: $2.95 each from World Market
Votive candles: $8.95 for a package of eight from World Market
Votive candle holders: $99 cents each from Target
Plastic fruit: $1 from a yard sale
Napkins: $1.99 each from Target
Napkin rings: I made them from ribbon, paper flowers and buttons for about 40 cents each
Striped bowl: Free because it was a hostess gift (The bowl would have been a splurge at $29.95 from Crate and Barrel.)
And the best bargain on the table? Drum roll, please! The plates and bowls were just $3 each from Wal-Mart! Ya gotta love a good bargain! Now, pull up a chair at the table below and I’ll ladle a steaming bowl of stew for you!
